The  natural country side and wonderful gardens offer some stunning photo opportunities and if the weather let’s you down you still have the elegance of the features inside.

This weekend I was out and about in Pitlochry, Perthshire a small bustling market type town popular with tourists and much to explore, there is  plenty of accommodation around for guests, one place I was impressed by was the Atholl Palace Hotel.

It is a stunning hotel with views across the Tummel valley set in mature woodlands and lovely gardens so plenty of photo opportunities even on a dull day it is impressive, they also offer very unique rooms and you could hire one of the lodges for your wedding party to stay in. So what sort of packages are on offer :Summer wedding package runs from April -October  for Saturday weddingSplendor Atholl Palace Hotel

Now if you are looking for a country wedding that is not so formal why not consider a barn or a small country inn are you a horse lover there are rescue center’s that hold wedding receptions, do forget to check out the national trust from the ruins to castles.

There is a good selection of places  to eat out one nice place we stopped in for some refreshments was Hettie’s Tea room the scones were amazing and the food was good they also offer a variety of tea’s,  the staff were friendly and it is very popular so you may have to wait to get seated .

I would recommend you book meals early no matter where you decide to eat especially if you are hoping to see something on at the theatre there restaurant gets booked up quickly and has lovely views over the River Tummel failing that the Old Mill is nice though if your not a resident you have to take your chances getting a table.

Road access is very good they have a railway station , there are also two whisky distilleries, one you may know Bell’s the other is the smallest distillery called Eradour it is very pretty and its the only one still doing hand crafted malt whisky should you enjoy a wee dram.

There is something for everyone and if you are traveling from afar you can soak up the character and beauty of the landscape surrounding Pitlochry, make a nice trip for family and friends before your big day.
